Fresh from two exciting wins at Sundance earlier this year, including the Directing Award and Excellence in Cinematography, SIN NOMBRE adds another award to its slate after winning the Skillset New Directors Award at the Edinburgh Film Festival 2009.

Cary Joji Fukunaga was awarded the prestigious Skillset Award by an exclusive and impressive judging panel, comprising of film critic Claudia Puig, acclaimed actress Sacha Horler (MY YEAR WITHOUT SEX), renowned author and journalist Janet Street-Porter, Academy Award Nominee Actor Frank Langella (FROST/NIXON) and director Joe Wright (ATONEMENT).

Described as a “visually beautiful film” and praised for his delicate handling, Fukunaga immersed himself in his research travelling on the roofs of trains with real immigrants to track the journey of the lead actors.

Neil Peplow, Skillset's Director of Film, commented: "SIN NOMBRE is a work of staggering achievement. It is a highly ambitious and accomplished film, let alone as a first feature. Cary has shown himself a future talent to reckon with, and completely deserves this award."
