Brief

One of the fastest growing media companies in the UK, Revolver is an innovative, edgy, multi-award winning, marketing led, independent film distribution company known in the industry as a bit of a maverick player – not afraid to break the rules and push the limits of what is perceived as possible.

We are looking for a new logo which reflects the spirit of the company and gives a gentle nod to its urban leaning while still positioning us as a professional film distributor.

The company has, in the past, been described by the industry press as “Downright dripping in street cred” and this is a position we want to uphold. That position, as a leader in urban film distribution, was further cemented in 2006 when we released the smash-hit mainstream crossover film Kidulthood.

As a company we are also particularly proud of our industry innovations, creative marketing and pioneering initiatives. In 2008 we released the first ever live 3D movie with U23D. 2008 also saw the first multi-platform release with Mum & Dad available in Cinemas, on DVD and VOD at the same time.

The last few years have seen highly successful PR stunts including a huge 96 sheet poster for Kidulthood for which we replaced the faces of the cast with the faces of the current government cabinet (and placed on one of the busiest streets in London) – the following day we had total saturation across the UK press.

The Goal

To create a new company logo which reflects the spirit of the company.

Composition

The new logo should include the words “Revolver” and “Entertainment” however the logo should be able to work independently with just the word “Revolver”.

The logo should also include an image or insignia which will become instantly recognisable as a graphic representation of the company (as the “Swoosh” does for Nike).

Specifics

The logo should avoid any references to guns
